Adopt a Dog
When adopting a dog, its very important to think of what your family is like.
Say this is your family:
-Dad works all day comes home late
-Mom works at home
-kids have soccer practice after school every day, get home to homework.
A puppy is not for you, nor a dog that is high maintenance. You probably want a dog that dosen't require much attention, a low maitnence dog. Probably a large one. If you have a certain kind of family like this though...:
-Dad who works from home
-Mom who works at work, night shift
-Kids with extracurricular activities a few days a week
A dog like a Beagle or Dachsund, family dogs that aren't very high maitnence.
If you have lots of time on your hands, you can probably adopt diffrent kinds of dogs. Its also important to think about your other pets. If you have puppies, its best to get another puppy. If you have cats, try and get a dog like a Yorkie, dogs that don't care about cats. If you have baby animals, or baby people, its best to get a small dog, it wont get big and try and use your kid as a chew toy! Make sure your land is big enough for your dog. So if you live on a farm, a big dog would prefer to live there. If your very urban, you may want to get somthing like a small dog because some urban citys can get very crowded. What kind of dog would suit you? If you enjoy fishing, hiking and camping, go for a hunting dog. If you like staying at home and reading, get a lap dog. If you like playing with friends and playing video games, get a house dog! Now, when buying a dog its very important to make sure they get, or have gotten, spayed or nuetered. You don't want to get puppies accidentaly now do you? Its also important to take your new dog to the vet right away to look for anything wrong with him/her. You also need to have a leash, coller, food and water bowl ready before actully bringing home your new dog. Your dog needs to have food in his/her bowl all day, same with water. The next moring, you need to check to see if the food is still there. Dogs also need care and attention. Make sure he/she has toys. If you have a long haired dog, make sure you have a good doggie hairdresser for him/her. Dogs need to be groomed! Make sure you take your new dog for walks everyday and go to the dog park regularly. Your new dog also needs rest. See if you can find him/her a dog bed. If not, let them sleep on a bed or couch. There you have it! Now, think of this when adopting your new dog, its all important!
