Puppy Tips
Puppies are a lot of hard work! If you have a job that doesn't give you much time by yourself, a puppy is not for you! Puppies need lots of love and care. Then need to be fed often, if a small dog feed it once every hour (Ex: Dachshund, normal sized Yorkie) if very small, once every 30 min. (Ex: Miniature Dachshund or Miniature Yorkie). If a medium sized dog (Ex: Beagle or terrier) about 3 times a day. If a large breed (Ex: Labrador or BMD) about 2 times a day. Puppies need to be played with often but still need rest. Its best to take them on 1 or 2 walks a day (if 4 months and +) and the dog park once a week (Again, 4 months and +). If a younger pup (3 months and -) play with them with squeaky toys and bones. It is best to get lots of bones for large breeds, because puppies teethe! They will bite up until a year old, and they can bite very hard. Playing is very important, as well as love. When a puppy gets tired, it will go to sleep and it likes to be warm. You should probably put them on a couch, bed, blanket, or dog bed. They will wake up and go immediately into play mode, pee mode, or eat mode. Be prepared. Puppies have small bladders, so when they wake up its best to take them outside, then feed them, and then PLAY! Now, puppies need special food, too! Feed them puppy food. Dog food doesn't have enough nutrients for them. Monthly checkups to the vet are very important for a puppy. Your puppy can get very sick very easily. Parvo is a very important thing to protect your lil' pup from! If your dog won't eat his or her medicine, wrap it in bacon and it'll be down in no time! Well, try and dedicate lots of time to your pup, and you'll be fine!
